If I was going to compare this book to anything, I’d have to say that it reminded me of Big Little Lies. Everyone has secrets and they’re dragging their children right along with them.
Overall, I enjoyed this book for what it was and read the whole thing in less than a day. The slow drip of revelations and information was addicting, and I had a hard time putting this one down.
This is the first time that I've read a book by this author, and I found her writing style to flow well. There was just enough descriptive writing that I was able to picture everything perfectly in my mind, and the writing never became too flowery or overdone.
I can’t believe some people had to wait 5 years for this book! I mean, it would have been 100% worth the wait, but I won’t deny how happy I was that I could dive right into it after finishing Vicious.
This book is a detective story, with only a tiny bit of magic. That’s not a bad thing, but don’t go into this expecting a fantasy!
